Wake Up and Make Up- Spring Edition

Hello loves!

How has March been for y’all? Be grateful for wherever you are, because trust me, you’re better off there (weather wise, at least). It’s been scorching here in Oman this entire month, it’s unbearable already!

But in attempt to make myself feel better, I brought you a Spring reading list in collaboration with Sarah Wazir, which was so much fun to put together! In case you missed it, click here to hop on over to my blogpost and here for Sarah’s part of the collab.

So today, I have another Spring related blogpost (surprise, surprise) which is another collaboration with my good friend, Sobas, who is @throughmyhazel on Instagram and has a personal blog as well. You can give her blog a read by clicking HERE.

In this set of posts, I am bringing for you my Spring makeup and skincare recommendations and Sobas has put together some fashion and accessories staples in her wardrobe this season! Unfortunately, she is facing some issues and will not be able to publish her blogpost this week as planned. However, she has promised it for next week. Be sure to keep an eye out for it!

Jumping right into the blog, let’s talk about skincare.

Sun Protection

As the sun has started to show itself a lot more now, our skin needs protection more than ever. I am aware of how important SPF is for our skin. Majority of skin damage and aging is due to environmental factors, especially UV rays. Who wants wrinkles early, or at all, in all honesty? But I’ve always been the worst when it came to sun protection, solely because of the tacky feeling of sunscreens. I absolutely loathe the texture and sticky sweaty after effects of using SPF. Plus, the heavy creams always broke me out, which is why I always eliminated that step from my skincare routine. Until recently, when I came across this Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-touch Broad Spectrum Sunscreen (whoa that’s a mouthful!) and fell in love. Oh yes, head over heels!

They’re not kidding about the dry-touch part. It truly dries out almost instantly after application, which is why you need to work in small sections. It doesn’t leave a very white residue on the skin nor does it feel tacky to the touch. It gives the most beautiful finish and makes a perfect base to apply makeup on top. It’s perfectly light and doesn’t make my foundation feel any heavier than it already is. It has a matte finish and doesn’t make my skin oily throughout the day. Oh, and it doesn’t break me out, thankfully! I would highly recommend you go and get yourself this pretty amazing product!

Now I don’t know about you, but I’m a fan of the whole double cleansing shebang. The Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution is my Step 1 every evening when I start taking my day off. I have used the Garnier Micellar Water, an apparent dupe for this, which is good and cheaper, but I always go back to my holy grail Bioderma. It’s so much better for so many reasons!

I am planning to do a VS blogpost comparing these two, so let me know if you guys would be interested in something like that.

Refreshing Water Mist

I cannot even buh-lieve I haven’t posted a review on the Mac Prep + Prime Fix +! Can you imagine, this review was one of the very first blogposts I had ever written! No clue how I completely forgot to post it! Expect it soon.

Anywho, onto this amazing product.

The Mac Fix + can be used under and over your makeup to give you a dewy, glowing fresh look. It finishes your makeup by eliminating the excessive powdery look and that’s exactly the coveted makeup these days, especially for Spring/Summer! Staple spray of the season! Spritz spritz!

Body Lotion

Do I need to say anything about Bath and Body Works masterpieces? I love everything about them, starting from their cute stores to their packaging, their scented candles and everything in between! So it’s no surprise that I’ve been using their Pink Chiffon Shea and Vitamin E Body Lotion a lot for my daytime hydration. I’m not even going to attempt to describe the scent of this, as I am horrible at it, but it’s nice and spring-y. Yep, that’s how far my scent explanation skills go.

Speaking of scent descriptive skills, another beyond incredible scent that I’m not going to ruin by describing is the Elie Saab Resort Collection Le Parfum.

This is such a fresh, beautiful scent which would compliment Spring so wonderfully in my opinion. Whenever you pass by an Elie Saab counter, be sure to give this a whiff. This and another gold bottle of theirs. I’m not sure of the name, but it completely knocked my socks off- no kidding! I saw some lady put it on and the scent was so other worldly, I was compelled towards her to ask about it. It didn’t have a name on it, it was just a similar gold bottle to this one.

Can you guess what perfume is on my wish list these days?

Onto the pretty pretty. Makeup wise, I believe, Spring is the time to show off those bright lush lips and beautifully bronzed glowy skin. I’ve spoken about these products in previous blogposts, so I’m not going into any depth.

Bronzer of choice:  Mikyajy Paradiso Bronzing Powder [Click HERE for Review]

Blush: Maybelline Fit me! Deep Rose

Cream highlight: Benefit Watts up! [Click HERE for Review]

Powder highlight: theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer [Click HERE for Review]

All of this topped up with the MAC Fix + equals perfection! (obviously with more products on as well, but you know what I mean)

Accessorize Coral Crush

This is such a beautiful, comfortable orange, I love it. It has a very balmy consistency but isn’t sheer. It gives a decent pigmentation in one swipe. However, unless you blot and powder it down to a stain, reapplication is required after a couple of hours.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss 103

I feel like Pink and Spring go together like bread and butter. This has a slightly blue undertone and is a matte formula. I do like it but I feel like if you haven’t hydrated your lips beforehand, the lipstick can crumble and look a little crusty. However, the colour is very pretty.

Maybelline Baby Lips – Cherry Me

Hydrate and get a lovely sheer cherry colour on your lips with this tinted balm from Maybelline. This is one of my favourite slap on, on the go lip tint. It’s comfortable, looks pretty and hydrates as well.

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner – Spice and Wine

If you’ve read my previous blogposts, then you may already know that Spice is my absolute holy grail lip liner. I love it underneath lipsticks and liquid lipsticks, as well as on its own. The liner applies smooth and creamy. It gives such a comfortable stain that lasts a decent amount of time.

Recently, I bought the shade Wine and love it as well. It’s a beautiful colour for Spring and works great underneath lipsticks.

L’oreal Paris Mega Volume Black Angel Miss Manga

Just fab! Sport those clear eyelids look this Spring with spectacular lashes using Miss Manga. This mascara gives good length and volume. It doesn’t give spidery nor clumpy lashes. I find that even if I don’t curl my lashes before application, this mascara lifts them and gives such a good curl that holds for the entire day. And if I curl them, then DROOL!

That’s it from my side with this collab. Remember to check out Sobas’s Spring fashion and accessories ensembles next week and show her some love as well!

Hope you guys had fun hanging out with me today. It was a bit different from my usual posts but I hope you liked it. I’m working hard to bring you guys better posts every week. Thank you for your continuous love and support. Please let me know what kind of posts you would like to read next. Drop down your recommendations in the comments section below.

Until next week.
