The YouTube Made Me Buy It TAG!

Hi my angels!

I have been watching YouTube since I don’t even remember when and I’ve been buying things off of YouTuber recommendations for precisely that long. I’ve been seeing this tag running along YouTube for quite some time now but recently it has been EVERYWHERE! So I decided to give it a try as well. Below are listed all the products I’ve bought because they were all the rage once (or now, for that matter). I have talked about products that I loved and those that I regretted buying. Please bear in mind that these are in no particular order of timeline nor preference, just what I remembered while jotting these down.

  • MAC Fix +

Tell me you didn’t buy it because of YouTube and I shall never believe in you again. Everyone and their mama was talking about this when I first started watching YouTube. Everyone would use it for everything and it was like such a miracle product. It just became one of those I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE kind of products and for good reason, though. I absolutely love it and still use it to intensify pigments, spritzing it on for a dewy look, using it prior to primer for added moisture, etc.

I have a review coming up if anyone is interested.

  • Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

I would say the same goes for this as the Fix +. This was pretty much the only setting spray anyone ever used. It was a holy grail for many and I definitely caved in and bought myself a bottle! Love it!

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent

This obsession goes far back as well but I still see everyone raving about it and using it, so I guess it was a good thing I bought it when I did. It is a great drugstore setting powder. Don’t regret purchasing.

  • theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

I don’t know one person who I haven’t heard rave about this highlighter. Don’t say I blame them, either. YouTube made me buy it and I’m a very happy glowy girl now. ‘nuff said?

  • Bioderma Sensibio H2O makeup remover

Omg did anyone use anything else to remove their makeup with? At one point this was all I saw! Definitely worth it though. It’s an incredible product, one of my holy grails.

  • Garnier Miceller Cleansing Water

I believe the same goes for this one. This came and won many hearts as a dupe for the Bioderma, so when I ran low on mine, I decided to give this a try. I don’t regret it. It was pretty affordable in comparison. Let me know in the comments below if anyone would like a comparison between the two!

  • Real Techniques brushes

These brushes are amazing and very pretty to look at, too! And YouTube made me buy them!

  • Beauty Blender and Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

My word, do I even need to explain myself here? I mean, one can only have so much self control. But I for sure don’t regret falling for the hype because it was so worth it. Changed my makeup forever!

  • Nivea Men After Shave Balm as a primer

Now, NikkieTutorials is the one to actually thank for this. She spoke about how great this product worked as a primer and then everyone had to try it and then surely rave and rave and rave about it. Worth trying, I must say. Review will be up shortly.

  • Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel Heat Protectant Spray

I don’t know if this was everywhere because everyone was sponsored or whether they actually loved it (this was before YouTube made writing ‘AD’ compulsory) but I was defo sold. Works great, I guess, if there was a way to tell.

  • Tresseme Shampoo and Conditioner

Same doubt here as with the above. But these were holy grail for me for so many years. I have moved on now but not because I had a problem with them. I just got bored.

  • The Body Shop Body Butter and Mist

Not sure if you heard about these as much as I did, but every YouTuber I followed back then would swear by these, especially the body butter. I’ve repurchased both many times and my love for them still remains. The strawberry scent, in particular.

  • LA Girl Glide on Eyeliner Pencil and Fineline Eyliner

This is my most recent purchase. It was not because I heard everyone talk about it but I bought it the second I heard Amelia Liana say that these were dupes to… (I shall talk about these more in my upcoming review and first impressions on these).

  • Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks

All of my love and everyone else’s for these lipsticks! YouTube made me buy them but I’ll make you if you haven’t already tried these out.

  • Vans Perf Leather Slip-on in Black

I’m not entirely sure if it was just me but I saw so many YouTubers wear these and they looked quite casual yet put together. So I caved and bought myself a pair. I was a little disappointed, I must say. They looked so comfortable but didn’t feel as much. After an hour or so the stitches at the inner back of the shoe really bothered my skin. Prior to buying these, I thought I would literally live in them as they go with everything. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. But yeah, YouTube made me buy them!

I thought this brand deserved its own special little category. You’ll see why.

  • Maybelline The Falsies Mascara (Original and Flared)

Oh my love for these. A holy grail for years!

  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I heard each and every person on YouTube go on and on about this so much I swear they would even be talking about it in their sleep! I had to give it a try. I did love it but not so much the waterproof version, RIP all the lashes I lost due to it.

  • Maybelline Baby Lips

Correct me if I’m wrong but I do think that even this little lip balm got its prime time on YouTube.

  • Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer

YouTube made me buy my holy grail concealer and I could never be happier. (This is a dupe for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, btw).

  • Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

Yes, the one with the obnoxiously long name! (I didn’t write the full name above) Everyone and their mama and their babies and their freakin’ puppies were using and talking about this concealer at one point! I felt like I absolutely needed it and so I bought it. I wouldn’t say I regret it but it didn’t end up being my holy grail, either.

So yeah, I guess these are all the products that I remember buying solely because of their YouTube rage. I may have forgotten a couple, but oh well.

Which one of these or any other products did you buy because of YouTube? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to tell me whether they were worth your money or not!

You watch Amelia Liana too? Omg she’s awesome! You should watch My Pale Skin Blog and Chloe Morello on youtube for makeup tutorials too

Thanks for the suggestion! I do watch Chloe occasionally. I follow so many YouTubers but if you want professional makeup tips, you should follow celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge.
