Hi my lovelies!
(Just going to put this out there- this was one of the very first blogposts I ever wrote. I forgot to publish this, oops!)
So let’s be honest. Two of the main reasons this face wash ended up in my collection were (a) I heard a lot about it, and (b) it’s pink! I mean, how many pink skincare items do you see out there? Plus it smells amazing.
Now let’s see what it claims to do. The Neutrogena website reads:
‘NEUTROGENA VISIBLY CLEAR® Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash is an uplifting daily facial cleanser for clearer, fresher and healthier looking skin every day. With powerful MICROCLEAR® technology, the formula cleanses deeply to help eliminate spots and blackheads. The refreshing gel gently purifies the skin without over drying, whilst a wave of pink grapefruit uplifts the senses with a burst of invigorating freshness!’
I left a little product in to show you the colour. It’s a shame you can’t see just how pretty it was.
My first impression:
The smell! I fell in love instantly and loved the way it made my skin look. It definitely looked clean. Like really clean. It did dry my skin a little however it didn’t strip all the moisture away which was good. Although later in the evening my skin did feel itchy and had some redness, it went away and never happened in the next washes (I have particularly sensitive skin). It is a refreshing face wash due to the smell, however not nearly as energizing as my HG, Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Cleanser (read review HERE).
Over the weeks:
The consistency is gel like but it doesn’t lather up much, which can be a bit annoying at times. I had a couple of spots when I first started using this face wash. Not noticing an immediate effect, I was let down a bit. But after a couple of days I did find that the spots started to dry out. In terms of removing makeup, it does do the job, but uses up double the quantity required. So I would advice using a separate makeup remover to get rid of your layers before washing your skin with this, like maybe with (my HG) Bioderma Sensibio H2O. If you wish to check out a comparison review between the Bioderma and it’s popular dupe, hop onto my blogpost on it by clicking HERE.
I wouldn’t say that this face wash completely blew my skins brains away but I can’t say I was disappointed either. The colour and fragrance don’t cause any skin allergies and my skin definitely didn’t get any worse. It helps my spots but takes its time. The only thing I would say is that the blackheads story is purely a story. It doesn’t do anything for them. At least not for me.
Would I repurchase? Honestly, I don’t think so. I only stick to products so amazing, I can’t live without them. Otherwise, NEXT PLEASE.
My verdict- 5/10. It smells so good and looks pretty on my bathroom shelf. Now excuse me while I go and take a sniff of it again. Hands up if you wish there was smell-o-vision!
