LA Girl Glide Gel Liner

Hi my lovelies!

Today I’ve got for you a review on the LA Girl Glide Gel Liner (Very Black). This too, like their Fineline Eyeliner, (READ REVIEW HERE) I bought because of Amelia Liana’s claims of this being, and I quote, ‘Literally unbelievable! It’s so creamy it’s the best gel liner from the drugstore I have ever ever ever ever ever found.’ Needless to say, I bought it without a thought.

Can you spot the liner?

The brand claims:

‘Makeup wearers no longer have to choose between the ease of application in an eye pencil and the smooth feel of liquid eyeliner. The new Glide liner has the soft and gliding feel of liquid that comes in a pencil that can be sharpened. Available in 19 highly pigmented colors that you’re sure to love.’

 My thoughts:

I bought this pencil for my waterline as I find that, at least on me, no pencil has the pigmentation I want and doesn’t last as long as I want it to. My first impression was pretty darn close to what the company claims. It was so smooth and creamy and very gentle on the waterline. It didn’t have blow-my-mind-away pigmentation in the first swipe, but after going over it a couple times, it was indeed very very black. I then went ahead and tight-lined as well.

After about, lets say, five minutes, my eyes began to stick together. I get it that it is a gel product but it’s supposed to dry once set, isn’t it? I found that even after an hour of application, it still had that tackiness and therefore made blinking very uncomfortable. The second time I applied it, I skipped the tight-line part and only did my waterline. This improved the tacky feeling.

As for the lasting power, I would say it’s decent, however, the very black-ness dims down a little bit very quickly. The good thing is, though, that it doesn’t particularly bleed down or smudge, even after a light wash with water. So that’s amazing.

Ignore my little burn mark there.

My verdict:

I guess a 6/10 for amazing pigmentation and smooth texture? I don’t know, to be honest. I suppose the whole Amelia thing made me have so many high hopes from this. It’s a good pencil and is better than many others I’ve tried from the drugstore. It may be the best from the drugstore, but is it the best thing ever? Don’t think so. I need to get myself some high end  pencils to know if any will really stay put on my waterline or not.

Let me know in the comments below if anyone of you have tried this eyeliner pencil and found it to be different. Would love to know!

Love,

Hiba x
