Hi my stunning readers!
I hope you’ve had an amazing start to the year so far. Today I thought I would share with you some of the things I had been loving through the month of December.
Beauty and Skincare:
Maybelline Fit me! Matte + Poreless Foundation
I bought this in December and it’s the only foundation I’ve worn the entire month! I’m not someone who wears foundation every day, but when I have, I would always reach for this. It’s very lightweight and has a light to medium natural coverage that I’m pretty sure you can build up. It blends like a dream (I use it with a beauty blender). The finish isn’t super matte; it gives a slightly dewy finish, which is amazing. I have combination skin and it doesn’t make me look shiny when powdered. It’s like matte skin with a healthy glow. The foundation powders beautifully, sits well on skin and doesn’t emphasize pores. Throughout the day, it didn’t separate on my skin, however I did set it with powder and a setting spray.
Major love! I don’t see myself falling out of love with this foundation anytime soon.
St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Moisturizer
I have very sensitive, combination skin. I had been on the hunt for a good everyday moisturiser that would hydrate my skin without being too heavy. The St. Ives Collagen Moisturiser is your basic hydrating friend that works well and doesn’t irritate the skin. It doesn’t feel too heavy on my face and doesn’t make me shiny. It sinks right in. I even use this as a night time moisturiser and my skin is nice and hydrated in the morning. On nights when my skin is feeling a bit dryer, I use this along with my Olay 7 in 1 Instant Smoothing Serum, which has bee another favourite of mine for the last 6 months.
There is one thing though. I seriously doubt the anti-ageing and fine line removing technology this moisturiser claims to have. However, since I’m only in my very early twenties, I’m not bothered to use anti-ageing products just yet.
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub
I know that it’s not healthy to exfoliate our face more than two or three times a week, but I’ve been having to stop myself from using this scrub every single day! Yes, it’s that good!
I don’t have overly dry, flaky skin, so some heavy duty scrubs can be too harsh on my sensitive skin. I love and use my St. Ives Apricot Scrub (don’t roll your eyes, I know every single person and their mama loves this, but I promise it’s not overrated!) This Clean & Clear one is a super gentle, gel like scrub with refreshing bursting beads that wake you up. I use it after my holy grail, Clean & Clear Morning Burst facial cleanser with lemon, papaya and caffeine, so it’s a nice double wake me up treat in the morning. It doesn’t irritate my skin and makes it look really fresh and sparkling clean. Plus, I’m in LOVE with the scent!
Bath and Body Works Fresh Cut Lilacs Candle
I had been visiting my parents in Karachi recently and my mother would always be burning the Bath and Body Works Candle in Fresh Cut Lilacs. I was obsessed! It smells so fresh and floral. It’s definitely not an overpowering scent, but just enough to give the house a calm vibe. Would surely be getting one for myself!
Vanilla Milk/ Milkshake
Something that all of my friends and family know about me is that I JUST CANNOT DRINK MILK. Never liked it. So you can imagine my surprise when, after my mother forced fed me this milk, I found myself reaching for it every night. To the point that I wouldn’t sleep without having it.
Now, there are two ways you can have this. The low fat way or the full on creamy indulgence way. I will be showing you how to make the low (-er) fat way below, the one I personal drink every day.
All you need is your choice of milk, some sugar and some vanilla essence. Take a glass of milk and add sugar as per your liking. Add a few drops of vanilla essence, stir it up and you’re done!
To make the heavier version which is super yummy, add a tablespoon of thick cream in addition to the above and blend it all up. You’ll have a yummy milkshake ready to enjoy.
Journal by Peter Pauper Press
Stationery wise, I’ve been loving and using my cupcake journal a lot lately. I use it to plan my blogposts and jot down ideas and inspirations for future blogposts.
These were my favourites for the month of December. What were yours? Fire away in the comments below!
